Dan Orvin Speaks on Pandemic Eviction Crisis Issues at American Bar Association Webinar

CHARLESTON, SC—In addition to being a public health crisis, the COVID-19 pandemic has led to a spike in evictions, with millions of Americans suddenly being unemployed and unable to pay rent.

On Dec. 9, Womble Bond Dickinson real estate attorney Dan Orvin took part in a webinar panel discussion on “Eviction Crisis 2020: Past, Present and Future.” The discussion was presented by the American Bar Association’s Section of Real Property, Trust & Estate Law and co-sponsored by the Commission on Homelessness and Poverty.

Orvin spoke about issues facing landlords related to the pandemic. In addition, the panel spoke about the federal Fair Housing and Affordable Housing implications, the issues facing tenants, and how lawyers are assisting clients with their eviction crisis needs.

He was joined in the panel discussion by Cashauna Hill of the Louisiana Fair Housing Action Center and Nisha Vyas of the Western Center on Law & Poverty.
