When companies are sued in a class action, it is natural to direct a lot of early attention to the causes of the action alleged, the business practices that have been challenged, the size of the class and the total amount of damage exposure.

But how much do companies need to know about the named plaintiff who has sued them? Is it even worth the effort to challenge the typicality and adequacy of the named plaintiff?
